Christmas Stocking Writing Activity

Click HERE to find in my tpt store!

This is such a fun and EASY activity for the holiday season! You all know how much I love "craftivities" that are just color and cut.

This stocking writing pack includes the story: A Christmas Orange. It's a touching Christmas story that my mom used to tell us every year around Christmas time. This would also be an extra special read aloud if you brought each student an orange!

This pack also includes lesson suggestions, brainstorming sheets (circle map, tree map), rough Draft paper and the stocking coloring sheet/page topper.

This looks especially cute as a hallway display on a fireplace! I made the fireplace above out of butcher paper and crumpled up some tissue paper for a fire.

Below is a picture of my sister's classroom, she strung the stocking in a row, still adorable and easy!

I hope you enjoy this writing activity as much as I do each year :)

Happy Teaching!

Haloween Work on Writing Activities!

We are well into the school year and STILL launching our Daily 5 rotations!

Every class is different and this year my class needs a lot of modeling and a lot of extra practice working independently.

BUT the one rotation we have finished building our stamina on is WRITING!

I absolutely love writing and I love creating fun writing products that are easy for my students to grab and go.

This October I put out my Halloween Writing Pack and it has been a HUGE hit!

I use a colored cart with 8 labeled drawers for students to choose their writing options from.

Choice is the BEST way to get students excited about writing as well as keeping them from getting bored of doing the same activity every day!

I LOVE this work on writing pack because I can make copies and then leave it out in my writing cart all month!

Here are some of the activity included in this pack:

This is THE favorite activity during work on writing! The first drawer in my writing cart is full of stickers ( I change them out seasonally) and students grab 3 stickers and a paper and go back to their seat to work. I have them put their 3 stickers down, sketch their story with a pencil and write their story!

I copy these cards double sided, so my firsties can color the front and have the writing lines on the inside! They love writing cards for their friends and family!

In this pack there are 3 choices of different how to writing activities. We are just starting Procedural Narratives so this gives students a chance to practice what they are learning during our Writers Workshop!

Spooky setting writing pages allow students to practice what they have learned about setting while writing! Each page has a fun Halloween themed graphic and students sketch the setting around it and then write a story about it!

This writing pack has 22 pages of activities to supplement your writing station during the month of October!

ENJOY :)

Valentine's Day FREEBIE

One of my most popular Daily 5 Choices is my Work on Writing Center!

I like to change out the activities each week. One of my student's favorite choices is to write cards for their friends!

I created this freebie as a "Valentine's Day" card for my students to complete during Daily 5 rotations in February.

You can find it HERE in my TPT Store.

Fun Valentines Day Activities!

This week I have been thinking about what I will be doing for centers the week & day of Valentine's Week. I decided to let the students try something new!
You can find this Valentine Pack HERE in my TPT Store!

During centers, each student will be given a choice board:

I will have these 9 centers around the room! Students will need to do 3 a day, and cross out the box when they have finished the activity.

Here are some of the fun activities below:

This pack would also be fun to have out during a Valentine's Day Party, or to let students complete on Friday afternoon's during the month of February!

Word Work Activities: Words Ending in -ng

I've used this Christmas break to re-organize my reading block, as well as plan out new lessons for my intervention block.

I may have also watched about a thousand hours of Grey's Anatomy ;)

One of my goals for this new year is to give my students MORE phonics and spelling practice. To prepare them for second grade, I'm starting to transition away from the "play" spelling & word work centers, such as magnet boards and matching games, and holding them more accountable with these worksheets.

In this new word work pack, there are 17 worksheets to help students get meaningful practice with words ending in -ng!

You can find this pack in my TPT Store HERE!

I also spent this break helping my sister set up her new classroom! Here are a few pictures I was able to snap as we finished the other night:

I am looking forward to seeing my sweet little firsties when we get back :)

Happy teaching
